Dr. Tan Ye grew up and received his B.A. in Beijing. In 1981, he came to study Western theater at the University of Toronto. In 1983, he began to study in the Ph.D. program of comparative theater at Washington University. Shortly before and after he received his Ph.D., Ye taught at five American schools. In 1992, Ye came from Vassar College to teach at USC. He is an ardent lover and instructor of Chinese theater and other Asian theaters, especially Indian theater, Japanese theater, and Korean theater. In the summer of 2002, as a Fulbright scholar, he toured and studied theater in Korea. Currently Ye serves as the director of the Center for Asian Studies at USC.
